History Continued

A new guild charter

Over the coming months a stockade was raised and the resulting grassland planted with the last sacks of grain not ruined by the sea water.  The commoners prospered and were content but the masters of the guilds were fearful that their knowledge would be fade.  So many of the Masters and Journeymen had been lost, so much lore that some guilds were close to dwindling into memory.

To preserve their knowledge it was agreed that certain of the guilds would merge (such as the mages) and while some guilds were usually despised by the more upright members of society agreements were made that recognised their contributions (at least behind closed doors).

Further it was agreed that gifted children would attend training in the basic arts and, at the age of 14, would be apprenticed into the Guilds.  The guilds, assured then of new talent, would be able to rebuild themselves to their former glories.

During the next hundred years the guilds prospered and at last even began to resemble the powerful Guilds of the homeland.
