GuildsMost of the guilds allow a character to develop both common skills and those dealing with the specialisations of the guild. A certain level of progression is available to all members of a guild. Beyond this level training must be given by the guild offices, guild master and eventually the guild hero. In this way only those that are deemed worthy of the guild can attain the greatest level of skills. Many guilds offer the chance to choose different specialisations within their general framework. Some of these are well known (such as the Border Guard within the City Watch) others are only known to the senior members of the guild and are offered to those that the guild finds worthy. City WatchIt is the city watches job to police Haven and the lands around it (the border guard). To allow them to do this effectively they are trained in many specialised skills such as perception which allows a watchman to recognise a thief in disguise. Those who attain a suitable level of promotion within the guild can choose to leave the normal constabulary and join one of the specialist groups within the guild. Two of these are the Border Guard and the Palace guard. Thieves GuildIf you prove a successful member of the city gangs you may be offered other roles within the guild such as joining the highwaymen, a group specialising in the waylaying of travellers and caravans. Thieves have many skills and those who operate within the city practise many that improve their chances of both reaching their target and making a getaway. Necromancers GuildOne of the most sinister groups within the lands the necromancers are generally despised by the rest of society. The dark rites undertaken by the members of this guild have left a very unsavoury taste in the mouths of the populace. |
